Future Ready Fuel – supporting the campaign to promote renewable heating oil

Direct Oil is proud to support the Future Ready Fuel campaign. Since 2021, our trade bodies UKIFDA and OFTEC have been working with distributors to trial a new renewable liquid fuel called HVO, to prove its viability as a low-carbon replacement for kerosene.

The trials have been successful. HVO is a drop-in replacement that offers an 88% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, without needing to make any expensive or wide-ranging changes to heating systems or the fabric of homes.

August 2023 update: The Future Ready Fuel campaign has reached a crucial stage. The government’s Energy Bill is moving through Parliament and will set out how homes like yours will transition to greener heating systems in the years to come.

Representing his constituents in Cornwall – home to a number of homes trialling HVO for heating – George Eustice MP has suggested some important amendments to the bill, which would give oil heated homes the option of switching to renewable liquid fuel as a means to decarbonise.
