Dogs for the disabled and dementia project
Dogs for the Disabled was one of the charities featured by home
heating oil supplier directoil.co.uk last year. The charity has been working with Alzheimers Scotland and Guide Dogs for the Blind to investigate the feasibility of running a project concerning the positive impact dogs may have with people suffering from dementia.
The three charities are asking people to come forward with any relevant case studies they may have and explore the potential of assistance dogs being able to help people with dementia. It’s very early days, but there are enough positive signs to encourage Dogs for the Disabled to plan a pilot project which will be set up over the coming months.
There is a link to an article from the Mail on Sunday below. If you can help the project in any way, please contact Dogs for the Disabled on 01295 252600.
