Domestic Heating Oil Information
If this is the first time you have used an oil-fired heating system, here's what you need to know before you order:
Most heating oil fired domestic boilers are fuelled by kerosene. If you are unsure which type of heating oil your system or range uses please arrange for an Oftec registered engineer to look at your system. Some boiler systems benefit from kerosene with added lubricants so check with your supplier before purchasing your oil.
You will also need to know the capacity of your tank. You can work this out by measuring the dimensions of a metal tank or finding the model number on a plastic tank.
Check that the boiler and tank have been recently serviced before ordering your heating oil. Remember, regular maintenance could save you big bills in years to come! directoil.co.uk offer value for money, one off services for various heating systems click here for a quote
Try to order heating oil in bulk. You may want to consider joining a bulk buying group or taking advantage of our soon to be launched multi save scheme as if you are off the gas mains your neighbours will be too. Ordering together in larger quantities may cost more in total but the price per litre will be significantly cheaper.
Check directoil.co.uk regularly as the price of heating oil changes on a daily basis; occasionally the price may change several times during a day and being savvy can save you money on your home heating bill.
Try to keep up to date on the latest guidelines and legislation. For oil storage installation notes, please see the information at the Environment Agency website.
